Youth At Work

Access to the labor market for youths

Educacentre offers a program for young people aged 15 to 30 who face major barriers to employment.

The program is offered at the Vancouver campus only.

This 22-week program includes:

  • The acquisition basic skills and skills that improve access to the job market;
  • Work experience;
  • Job search assistance.

Admission requirements

  • Be 15 to 30 years old;
  • Not at school;
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada;
  • Be entitled to work under provincial laws and regulations;
  • Face major barriers to employment (housing, language, health, etc.);
  • Demonstrate a willingness to integrate into the job market. 

Participants will receive $240 per week for full participation in the program. Those who successfully complete the program will receive a bonus at the end.
A new group begins every six weeks. People interested in participating must call us to make an appointment or get further information. Selection interviews are taking place now. A maximum of 10 people per group will be chosen to take part in the program.

Employers in British Columbia are given the chance to tap into a bilingual and dynamic labor pool!

The on-the-job training integrated in the Youth at Work program provides companies with the opportunity to screen and work with potential entry-level employees prior to making a full-time commitment. The candidates are enthusiastic and eager to learn - they will bring a fresh perspective. The placements are subsidized by the Youth Employment and Orientation Program (Jeunes au Travail).
